The Magical Yet

by Angela DiTerlizzi

Sometimes the most relaxing thing we can do is remember that we don’t have to master everything right away. The Magical Yet gently encourages children to keep trying, celebrate progress, and give themselves grace along the way. It’s a reassuring, uplifting read that’s perfect for a peaceful afternoon.

Write

โœ๏ธ
Set a timer for two minutes and brainstorm as many relaxing activities as you can. Don't stop to think too hard... just keep your pencil moving! When the time is up, read through your list and highlight your favorite idea. Then write a few descriptive sentences explaining why that activity helps you relax.

Need ideas?

Do you like quiet activities or adventures in nature? Maybe you relax by drawing, riding your bike, splashing in the pool, rocking in a hammock, snuggling a pet, or spending time with someone you love.

Build a Relaxation Station

Spread out a few cozy blankets and pillows, put on a calming playlist, and fill a basket with books, coloring pages, puzzles, or other quiet activities everyone enjoys. Then spend the next 20โ€“30 minutes simply slowing down together… reading, drawing, building, or just listening to the music.

When your quiet time is over, gather together and ask everyone to share:

What activity helped you relax the most?
What was your favorite part of your peaceful break?

You might even decide to make your Relaxation Station a new family tradition whenever life feels a little too busy.

We discovered that many of our favorite ways to relax happen outside! Reading in a hammock, fishing at the pond, walking through the woods, or simply lying on a blanket watching the clouds all made our list. We'd love to hear what helps your family slow down and recharge! ๐ŸŒฟโ˜๏ธ
