Can you bake cookies in the right order?

This sweet journaling prompt can grow with your student!
Option A – Describe & Doodle:
Think up a wild and wonderful cupcake. Write five adjectives that describe it, then draw it in your journal. Don’t forget to name it!
- What does it look like?
- What color is the frosting?
- What flavors or toppings does it have?
💡 Bonus: Give it a fun name, like “Sunset Swirl” or “Chocolate Avalanche.”
Option B – Show, Don’t Tell:
Describe your cupcake without ever saying the word “delicious.”
💡 Tip: Try using sensory details and participles (participles are verbs that act like adjectives — they add action and description at the same time).
“Cracking with caramel glaze, the cupcake burst with warm cinnamon flavor the moment I took a bite.”
“The sparkling sugar shimmered like glass and melted into the moist, fluffy cake below. Each bite left a streak of chocolate on the fork and a smile on my face.”
