The word picnic came from the French word <i>pique-nique</i> and originally described a meal where everyone contributed something.

I'll never pass up the chance for a picnic! π§Ί One of my favorite recent memories was enjoying a quick lunch aboard an open-air train car. The fresh air, the passing scenery, and a couple of shared hamburgers turned an ordinary meal into one of those little family moments we'll always remember.
